Last week I booked a spontaneous weekend in the sun! I was lucky enough to have made some eBay sales and get a tax refund I had been waiting on, but it’s reminded me that as a natural planner, I CAN be more spontaneous!
Here are 20 low and no cost ideas for some spontaneous fun…
- When your to do list is overflowing, down tools and go for a hike or a nature walk.
- Take a random road trip and explore a new town or village.
- Have a picnic in your backyard, living room, or even bed.
- Go for a bike ride and explore a new bike trail.
- Visit a local farm shop or grocer and try some local produce.
- Have a spontaneous movie night and watch a classic film you’ve never seen before.
- Try a new recipe and cook a meal from scratch or challenge yourself to make something from what’s in your cupboards.
- Have a DIY photo shoot outdoors and capture some fun memories.
- Go stargazing in a clear night sky. Bonus points for hot chocolate.
- Visit a local museum or art gallery with a free exhibition.
- Have a game night with friends or family and play board games or card games.
- Take a free yoga or meditation class from youtube and take 20 minutes to unwind.
- Go for a swim in a local swimming pool, lake, or beach.
- Volunteer at a local charity or organisation, or find something you can give to charity, and declutter at the same time.
- Visit a local library and borrow a new book or join a book club meeting.
- Put music on and have a kitchen disco! Youtube even has disco light videos for the full effect!
- Go to a local park and have a picnic while flying a kite.
- Visit someone you’ve meant to catch up with for ages.
- Have a spa day at home with DIY facemasks, bubble baths, and relaxation.
- Drive to the pub or beach and order chips and a drink (great after school when it’s sunny, and the kids can zoom round the garden!).
I hope these ideas inspire you to have some spontaneous fun, tag me on socials with what you get up to @shineontribe !
